BF Coach CPD: Delivering Tier 2 Compliant Fencing Activity Sessions

BF Coaches (Level 1 and above) are invited to attend a CPD webinar to assist them in planning Tier 2 compliant activity sessions in community clubs.

In Tier 2 in England, indoor adult fencing cannot currently take place outside of households/support bubbles.  (There are some exemptions so please do check the guidance here).

Clubs can offer indoor activity classes (provided there is no interaction/mixing between households/support bubbles).

To support our community clubs delivering Tier 2 compliant fencing activity classes to members, BF is providing a CPD webinar to all BF Coaches (Level 1 and above).

The webinar, prepared and led by strength and conditioning specialist George Morris, will provide coaches with refresher knowledge and discuss activities that can be delivered to groups of all levels of fencing ability in community clubs.

The session will include a range of activities designed to develop and improve fencing skills, irrespective of fencing ability.

The webinar is available to all BF coaches Level 1 and above and will consider the existing knowledge, experience and competency of a qualified fencing coach. The resource is intended as a refresher of existing knowledge about how to deliver an effective, fun session and will include:

  • Importance of recognising the range of ability in a community session
  • Safety and equipment
  • What can be included in Tier 2 compliant activity sessions
  • RAMP model (Raise, Activate, Mobilise, Potentiate), and sequencing of an effective activity session
  • Ideas for activities with visual demonstrations, including modifications, progressions and teaching points
  • The importance of cooldown and stretching

Additional information will also be developed and distributed after the event to continue the webinar’s themes and learning.

George Morris is a strength and conditioning specialist and epee fencer. Recently he has delivered a series of popular online educational and practical Zoom sessions to BF Compete Members in a 6-week programme. He says, “We want to ensure people of all ages and ability can return to group sessions in their clubs. This webinar is about making sure our community coaches can deliver activity session to their members, irrespective of fencing ability.  I’m looking forward to helping coaches make sure they have the best up to date knowledge and sharing some great ideas for sessions.”

A replay of the webinar will be sent via email after the event, so coaches who cannot attend at the time are encouraged to register for the session to receive the replay. Attendees will not be assessed or receive a certificate after the webinar but can include it in the ‘About’ biography section of their Coach CV profile.

Coaches Level 1 and above, please complete the expression of interest form and you will receive joining instructions to view the webinar.
