BF EVENT MEDIA INFORMATION

Last updated: 21st May 2026

The BF event media team is comprised of a very small group of BF staff and volunteers. To maintain lower event running costs, BF doesn’t allocate budget to media. During BF events, the media team prioritises live streaming and replay (when included in the event), podium photography and social media updates. The team also captures additional imagery when there is resource available.

Information on the priority items and additional items is below. The priorities are delivered subject to technical and resource issues, which may vary per venue and event.

Priority Items

The media team aims to deliver the following items at BF events as a priority:

Replays

BF is committed to posting the finals of events on YouTube.

Finals are usually recorded and uploaded (rather than streamed live) as soon as feasibly possible, usually on the same day. This means there may be a small delay in the final being available.

Commentary is not included in live streaming/replays as standard, but may be added if resource allows.

In cases where immediate upload is not available, due to venue wifi, piste timings or technical issues, the finals are uploaded to the BF YouTube channel as soon as possible.

Podium Photographs

Podium photographs are published (usually by the end of each day) on BF Facebook (see photo albums), BF Digital Portal and shared on Instagram.

Social Media Updates

Results links, live stream/replay links and general info posts are published during the event on TwitterFacebook and Instagram.

Additional Items

Interviews

The team aims to interview the winner of each final as a short video. This will be posted on YouTube after the event and is subject to athlete and media team availability.

Social Media

The team may post additional social media posts (as well as the priority posts above) throughout the event if resource allows.

Imagery

The media team also gathers additional images of fencers during the competition when resource allows. As this depends on the availability of the media team and event timing, it is not guaranteed that there will be images of all fencers at the competition.

Additional images taken by the media team at BF events are edited and published (usually in the week after the event) on the BF Digital Portal.

The link to the event’s Digital Portal album will be shared on social media and included in the round up news post, usually in the week after the event.

Please note, external guest photographers who apply for photography accreditation as per BF’s Photography Policy are not obliged to provide their work for BF’s use. At this time, there is no paid photographer for BF events. We rely on the small volunteer team to take as many images as they can, when they can. Therefore, the amount of additional images in the BF Digital Portal albums may vary.

Volunteers

We couldn’t run our events without our valued volunteers, and the media team is always looking for people who have experience in or are interested in learning more about:

  • Photography
  • Social media
  • Event media
  • Videography
  • Interviews
  • Technical support for referee video replay
