Previously available only on demand, BF’s Core Coach course is now being offered in an open format. Individuals and small organisations can now book their place on an open course to train their staff and volunteers.

Historically, BF’s Core Coach offer has only been available on demand, meaning that organisations needed to request a course in order to train their staff and volunteers. While this works well for larger organisations, many smaller community groups, Scouts and activity providers were unable to fill a whole course. To better suit various sizes of organisations, BF will be running Open Core Coach days alongside the traditional on-demand Core Coach format. The Open Core Coach days will allow one to two people from an organisation to book their place on pre-scheduled courses across the country.
This new format of courses is aimed at School Games Organisations, Active Partnerships, School Trust, uniformed groups and smaller community groups who wish to integrate fencing into their organisation, but who may not have the capacity or budget to book out an entire course.
What is Core Coach?
BF’s Core Coach offer is an entry-point course, equipping participants with the skills and confidence to deliver a one-hour taster session or six-hour pre-planned taster programme. Depending on the background of the participants, the course has a one- or two-day delivery model.
Core Coach is designed for organisations that use multi-sport staff, such as schools, uniformed groups, educational activity providers and holiday activity providers.
When is the next Open Core Coach day taking place?
The first Open Core Coach day will be taking place at Alexander Stadium in Birmingham on 14th June 2026. If you are interested in joining us on this day, please register for the course here.
If you wish to register interest for future courses and locations, or have any questions, please contact us by emailing [email protected].
