To celebrate the fantastic support our fencers have been given during the Olympics we are running a photo competition to find the best images you have taken of the fencing, or of the Games generally.

Prizes will be awarded in the following categories:

  1. Best photo taken someone under the age of 18 (on the date the photo was taken);
  2. Best photo of foil;
  3. Best photo of sabre;
  4. Best photo of epee; and
  5. Best non-fencing shot (to include images of Olympic venues and activities, but not images of other sports).

All images must be taken from spectator areas or in public areas.

Entries should be sent to [email protected] by 5pm on Friday 17 August 2012.  We will acknowledge receipt of each email, if you do not receive an acknowledgement please resend your entry (large files may not be received by our servers).  Please name your image with your surname and the number of the category you are entering.  You may enter up to three images.  If entering more than one image in each category please mark them “a” or “b”.  For example: “brown1a.jpg” or “jones5b.bmp”.

You must have taken the image yourself and the image must be provided free of copyright or any other rights.  By entering the image, you grant permission for BF to use the images for the purposes of the competition.

We’ll publish a selection of the images on the BF facebook page for everyone to enjoy.  Our judging panel (led by Maggie Lloyd-Jones and including one of our Team GB Olympic fencers) will pick a winner in each category.  We’ll publish albums on the BF facebook page of the shortlist in each category and the winning entries.  The winners will be announced on 24 August 2012.

Olympic fencers and BF members of staff or directors are allowed to enter the competition, but cannot receive prizes.

The prize for each category will be a poster sized print of the winning photo (up to 40 x 60cm depending on the resolution of the image), signed by members of the Team GB Fencing Team.  An overall winner will be chosen from the category winners and will receive a signed Olympic fencing jacket.

We hope you enjoy the competition and can’t wait to see all of your amazing images!
