COACH REQUIRED: BATTERSEA FENCING CLUB

Battersea Fencing Club is looking for a BF-registered coach (any weapon) to join their team.

From Battersea Fencing Club:

We offer competitive hourly rates. The candidate does not have to be highly-qualified and can be from any weapon,  but must have been an international squad fencer for their country at either Junior or Senior level.

We regularly have fencers in the younger age categories selected for internationals, so helping to mentor this group through the tournament trajectory is a job mission: specifically footwork, conditioning, tactical piste coaching, games, technical coaching (paired exercises/group target exercises), individual fencers’ diaries, help with goal-setting and support at tournaments (extra pay available).

We will also consider candidates who are interested in a particular role and who would like to help at club on a more casual basis (e.g. help with occasional matches and events, sparring and assisting the Cadet group).

We do not have a hierarchy and encourage ‘spiral’ learning methods with positive reinforcement.

Battersea is a small up-and-coming club with good overseas and London connections, and we are keen to grow collaborative partnerships. We invite applications from candidates who can develop links in these areas. The club has a 50:50 male to female ratio, and has a number of fencers on sponsored places, with the club running on a not-for-profit basis.

Parking is available and kit can be stored on-site. Club sessions happen most days and weekend mornings. We will consider different candidates for different days, but would prefer someone who can do at least two of the days. Timekeeping and personal presentation must be excellent.
