HEAD COACH (SABRE) REQUIRED – MX FENCING CLUB

MX Fencing Club is looking for a BF registered Head Coach for sabre in Sevenoaks/West Kent.

Are you a Sabre coach ready to steer a highly motivated club that is a feeder for the British Cadet and Junior Squads, with a great track record and collegial family community?

MX Fencing Club is recruiting a senior coach to train fencers and lead practices which are currently held in Sevenoaks, Kent, on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday Nights. This role will start from September 2023.

We summarise the key responsibilities below but there is great scope to grow this role as you wish, for example, by tapping into an existing schools network, offering additional S&C sessions, etc.

Fencers at the club are highly motivated to extend their training and proficiency.

  • Prepare for and run three sessions a week, currently on Tuesdays, 6-9:30 p.m., and Wednesdays and Thursdays, 6- 9 p.m for beginner and senior athletes including, children, youths and adults. Days and times subject to negotiation.
  • Meet with the MX board at least twice a year and as necessary to address any issues concerning the club.
  • Assist with a recruitment plan for fencers and assistant coaches, to grow and refresh the club.
  • Coach athletes in competitions in the UK and overseas, including the Leon Paul Junior competitions and the Cadet and Junior circuit.
  • Advise and support athletes on personal development plans, external training, university fencing scholarship applications, and applications to development programs such as DiSE and ADP.
  • Where possible, organise additional holiday training, or participation in international camps as a club.

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum level 2 sabre coaching qualification.
  • Registration as a coach with British Fencing required from all Applicants.
  • Any additional qualifications, such as S&C, personal fitness, etc. are a plus.

 

The successful candidate will have:

  • Proven experience of coaching beginners and youth fencers in sabre.
  • Be an excellent communicator.
  • Be organised and punctual, and enjoy working as part of a small team.

Job share considered for the right candidates.

This is a profession which is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check will be required.
