My Coaching Philosophy
My coaching philosophy stems from my belief that no two people see the world the same way,
and to help people succeed and progress as athletes, understanding the people you are working
with is essential.

No matter how similar two people may look, they likely have very different perspectives on
different aspects of the world and the quantities of knowledge that are within it. Because of this,
I view coaching as an opportunity to share my perspective with those learning and help them
broaden their own understandings and develop their skills as capable fencers. This approach
means that fencers not only leave the session with a better understanding than when they
arrived, but also more drive to improve. I think this is also complimented by my focus on
creating safe and inclusive environments to better allow fencers to develop their abilities while
not feeling undue pressure for the mistakes that are essential in a journey of progression.

I believe the ultimate success of coaching is to help inspire that drive to improve, and to help
them as they build on their own experiences and also take these opportunities to expand my
own knowledge of fencing and coaching.
