My Coaching Philosophy
My coaching builds on my life experience as a fencer, a 'performance parent' and a former secondary school teacher. I bring my passion for learning and my knowledge of teaching pedagogy to my coaching.

In three little words "Serious, Positive, Fun!"

When working at every level from beginner groups to junior internationals, learning has to be both hard work and enjoyable. Equally important are two other concepts, relevance and ownership. The fencers at every level should know why they are being asked to do the task and they should have input into what they are doing.

Every fencer will have different aspects of the sport which they find problematic. The challenge, and the joy, of coaching is to find the key to unlock that aspect for each fencer.

I am primarily a foil coach, up to junior international level, but am qualified in all three weapons.
