Following the rollout of the UK Ratings Scheme Pilot, a Foil and Epee competition for D-, E- and U-rated fencers will take place on Sunday 28th April 2024, alongside the British Senior Championships.

The ratings system, which runs in parallel to existing BF ranking systems, aims to provide a clear progression path for fencers and allows competition organisers to run competitions based at different levels. The scheme, which was initially piloted for Men’s Foil, has since been rolled out across all six weapons.

The Ratings of D, E and U are the lower end of the rating scale (A,B,C,D,E,U).  Further information on the rating scheme and the pilot can be found here.

Evie Millar, Events Manager at BF, said,

“We are excited to run a D E U event alongside the Senior Nationals weekend in April. This event gives those D E U rated fencers a competitive fencing opportunity against those of a similar level, and we look forward to seeing more D E U events being run throughout 2024 by local event organisers.”

Leon Paul is running a D E U competition on 2nd March 2024 for Men’s and Women’s Foil and Epee. For further information on the event can be found here. Following the success of their 2023 event, Fencers Club London are also running a D E U rated competition for men and women’s foil on the same day as their Open event, on 22nd June 2024. Registration for this event can be found here.

Throughout March 2024, there will be a series of Community Discussion Events based on the UK Ratings Pilot Scheme, with sessions for fencers, clubs and event organisers. Information and sign up for these sessions will be made available shortly on the Community Discussion Event Page.
