WEAPON STEERING GROUPS

Last updated: 26th March 2026

The Weapon Steering Groups bring together representatives from across the community, including experts in pathway development, coaching, refereeing, club growth, and Board-level oversight. Operating with BF staff in an advisory and facilitative role, the group enables the community itself to guide direction, priorities and future structural design. This approach reflects a forward-looking commitment to ensuring that all perspectives essential to the growth of the weapon are represented and empowered.

BF’s five strategic goals – Grow Participation, Create a Sustainable Future, Deliver GBR Success, Support Women & Girls, and Deliver Social Impact – provide the overarching framework for the Weapon Steering Group’s work. Within this framework, the community will develop approaches tailored to the distinct needs, pace and characteristics of the weapon.

BF is providing an exciting opportunity for a collaborative and strategic leader to drive forward the sport as the Chair of the Weapon Steering Group. This role is crucial in shaping the future of the sport, ensuring effective governance, coordination, and alignment with the overarching BF strategy. The Chair will provide leadership and direction to the Weapon Steering Group, ensuring that all voices within the group are heard, decisions are made collaboratively, and activities are delivered efficiently, fairly, and in the best interest of the weapon’s development.

BF welcomes interest from members of the epee community – coaches, referees, club leaders, athletes and volunteers – who wish to contribute to future development work. Individuals interested in contributing are invited to contact Sarah Jones, BF Head of Talent, by emailing [email protected].
