GBR Junior Nominated Team (attached to Non-nominated Individual) Process

As part of the Athlete Development Programme (ADP) strategy to develop performance through increased team event participation, an additional set of FIE Junior World Cup Team events have been nominated for GBR teams to compete in (i.e. in addition to the BF Nominated FIE Junior World Cups).

These additional Junior World Cups are not nominated Individual events – ie points cannot be scored on the BF Junior Ranking. Athletes selected to fence in these Team events will be eligible to fence in the associated Individual event as per the Junior Selection Policy.

The ADP will be responsible for confirming and communicating all aspects of these Team events including selections and the administration of logistics.

PROCESS TIMELINE

1. Team members selected by Athlete Development Team (ADT) as per the Junior Selection Policy 2018/2019
2. The ADT (Athlete Development Team) will confirm selection with individuals and inform them of the process they must they follow in order to accept selection and fully complete their entry and logistics for the competition. Once they have accepted selection, athletes will be responsible for any FIE fines for failure to show-up at the event.
3. Once fencers confirm their place in the team then they must pay the referee levy and confirm whether they wish to enter the individual competition. (For season 18/19 BF will be covering the cost of the Coach/TM levy.)
4. Once all fencers are confirmed and the referee levies are paid, the ADP Team will publish the selections on the British Fencing website.
5. Fencers should contact the ADP Coach/TM for information about the flight that they are on and coordinate their flight arrangements accordingly.
6. Fencers are responsible for sourcing and booking appropriate flights.
7. Flights should be booked within 1 week of accepting places and the details sent to the ADP Coach / TM.
8. The ADP Team / Coach will confirm final competition details and accommodation with Team fencers.

Team fencers who wish to also fence in the individual event must notify [email protected] directly to process their FIE entry. Non-team fencers who have requested to fence in the non nominated individual event will not be sent any competition or travel details and the ADP Coach/TM will not be responsible for any element of their logistics or welfare (as per any other non nominated event).
