The next level 3 referee exams will be held at the British Fencing Championships on the 18th and 19th April 2020, being held at The Lee Valley Athletic Centre, London, N9 0AR.
The seminar, theory and video exams will be held on Saturday 18th April and the practicals conducted across the whole, with the feedback session held during the afternoon of Sunday 19th April.
Due to time and man power constraints there is a discretionary limit of 8 candidates per weapon, which will be on a first come first served basis.
Candidates will be expected to referee both days of the competition, those that have already passed their theory will be able to use this competition as one of the practical observations towards their full pass.
The new Level 3 examination process will involve attending a referee seminar and then undertaking a theory and video test (currently planned to be held twice a year). Having passed the theory and video tests; the level 3 candidates will be required to pass 3 practical assessments taken across any twelve month period (and 4 if taken over any twenty four month period).
The practical assessments can be taken at agreed competitions listed as part of the Level 3 process. The updated examiner/ assessor list for the new level 3 process can be found here.
There will be a nominal fee of £20 for your first seminar, theory test, video test and practical assessment.
Thereafter each practical assessment is £10.
These charges are used to subsidise the costs of running the exams.
The expression of interest form for any referee wishing to sit Level 3 exams can be found here. Please note any referee wishing to take the Level 3 exam MUST hold a level 2 referee qualification in that weapon.
