Lorraine Rose Joins The Team as Workforce Development Officer

Lorraine Rose has taken up the position of Workforce Development Officer at BF.

Building on the established BF Coaching Framework, Lorraine will be responsible for developing CPD opportunities across the workforce, looking at areas such as minimum operating standards and online learning, and communities of practice. Working with the community to develop a diverse workforce, an important part of her role will be addressing barriers that may stand in the way of marginalized groups accessing workforce development opportunities.

Lorraine is making a career change in joining the BF team, as she comes to us from a science background, where she has over 30 years of experience as a molecular biologist at Edinburgh University.

Lorraine may be familiar to many in our community as she has been a volunteer in fencing for over 20 years, taking on many roles including events volunteer, coach, Team Manager and Welfare Officer.

Lorraine said, “I am delighted to be joining British Fencing. It will be challenging to take on a role that is not science-based but as a long-term member of the volunteer workforce, I am very excited to be able to play a part in the development of our people. I look forward to working with you.”
