Weapon Specific Course (L3)

This course was developed for coaches with fencers that are taking part in regular competitions, moving from a development phase to a performance phase. The course will re-visit effective coaching within group sessions and will explore different lesson types, with a wider tactical and technical content.

Who should attend?

Coaches from clubs and organisation with a number of years coaching experience, and have a number of fencers involved in international competitions.

Pre-requisites to attend the course

  • 18 + years old
  • Hold valid British Fencing membership
  • Hold a British Fencing Level 2 or the British Fencing, or the Coaching Fencing Award.
  • Coaches looking to add another weapon having attended BF L3 courses prior to 2016

Commitment

The course is based on a modular approach with a combination of theoretical and practical content. The course consists of: 5 days on course delivery (35 hours) plus ½ day home study – approx. 40 hours

Pre-requisites for certification

  • 18 + years of age
  • Evidence of the appropriate First Aid training
  • Evidence of the appropriate Safeguarding and Protecting Children training
  • Disclosure and Barring Service check
