The Epee Club Charitable Fund was established in 2016 with the sole aim of promoting the development of epee within Great Britain. Its funding comes from a variety of generous donors who wish to see GB epeeists in podium places at major international events. The Fund is a registered Charity and is overseen by the British Epee Development Committee – a group outside of British Fencing but closely linked to it – and three Trustees from The Epee Club. Over the past few years, the Charity has supported British Fencing by funding the Men’s and Women’s team entries to Epee World Cups and the European Epee Championships.
The Trustees allocated £15,000.00 for 2020 to support a range of initiatives including the provision of ADP coaches to travel with Cadet and Junior teams, team entries for Senior World Cups, squad training sessions with high-quality epee coaches and an epee coach development course in the spring of 2020.
It is hoped that this funding will help to reinvigorate the further development of epee in Great Britain and beyond by bringing forward more potential epee champions in the decade to come. In conjunction with Johnny Davis, the GBR Olympic Team Manager, and Steve Kemp, the GBR Coaching and Development Manager, this committee now continues to provide an annual income for a wide variety of support to our GBR epeeists at Cadet, Junior and Senior level as well as providing funds to allow coaches to travel with the teams. Our GBR epeeists also wear The Epee Club logo in international competitions and are invited to participate in our club competitions when they can.
The Epee Club Charitable Fund welcomes donations from anyone, whether they are fencers, parents, clubs, and coaches, etc. who may be generous enough to help our GBR epeeists. Please remember that this Fund is dedicated solely to help epeeists and is administered at nil cost by other senior epeeists. All money raised goes directly to provide our teams with the opportunity to train, to improve their performance and to succeed on the international stage.
