  • You can visit Hong Kong for up to 6 months without a visa. For information on entry requirements see the Hong Kong SAR government website.

To stay longer, to work or study, for business travel or for other reasons, you must get a visa. For further information contact the nearest Chinese mission with visa issuing facilities or the Hong Kong Immigration Department.

Travel options from UK to Hong Kong airport

  • Direct flights operate daily from London Heathrow (LHR) to Hong Kong International Airport (HKG)
  • Airlines: Cathay Pacific and British Airways
  • Flight time: approx. 12.5–13 hours direct

Time difference: Hong Kong is 7 hours ahead of the UK (8 hours during UK winter)

Airport Transfers: Transfer between Hong Kong International Airport and Hotel (except Regal Airport Hotel) costs 100 Euros per person (round-trip), booked by athletes and coaches directly with organisers. Travel insurance

Healthcare in Hong Kong
Medical treatment for uninsured foreign visitors to Hong Kong is expensive. You can only get prescribed medication through a doctor unless your UK prescription specifically says the medication will be required in Hong Kong.

Weather
May to August, it is hot and humid with occasional heavy rain and thunderstorms. Tropical cyclones usually occur between June and October, bringing high winds, heavy rain and sometimes storm surges. November and December are generally fine and dry with pleasantly cool weather, and may on occasion be relatively cold at night and in the early morning.
