2023-24 GBR SELECTION POLICY – BOARD APPROVED

Following two member consultations, the BF Board has approved the 2023-24 GBR Selection Policy.

The 2023-2024 GBR Selection Policy covers international representation for all age groups, U17s, U20s, U23s and Seniors and Para fencing.

You can read more details about the consultation process, the policy updates, and the specific items arising from the consultation from previous announcements here – Part 1, Feedback from Part 1, Part 2. Note that there were no substantive changes to the policy after completing the Part 2 consultation.

The Athlete Development Programme (ADP) ran a community Zoom session on Friday, 25th of August, 2023, to help athletes seeking GBR selections (at U17, U20, U23 and Senior level) their parents and coaches understand the GBR Selection Policy.

There will be an additional Zoom session on Thursday, 19th of October, 2023, at 8 pm- Sign up here to attend.

Please note that all athletes on the ADP, their personal coaches and (if U18) their parents are all expected to have attended at least one of these sessions and ensure that they have read the GBR Selection Policy carefully and used the opportunity to raise points of query and clarification early in the season.

If you have not been able to attend one of our sessions, please let us know via the form here and should there be a sufficient volume of people, we will run an additional session.

The ADP has published a guidance note here with additional information regarding the broader strategy around Selection Policy implementation.

Key Adjustments from 22-23 are summarised here.
