BF DIGITAL PORTAL – THE NEW HOME FOR PHOTOS AND ASSETS
BF has moved imagery previously hosted on ‘SmugMug’ to the the new-look BF Digital Portal, to streamline the systems used and provide access to more images and assets for members and clubs.
Free-to-download BF assets and event photos have already been moved from the SmugMug albums to the BF Digital Portal, which has been redesigned for a more modern look.
The BF Digital Portal was originally launched in September 2021, hosting free-to-download assets for clubs and members. We then introduced SmugMug at the beginning of 2024 to share albums of images from events, including GBR major events, our BF events, camps and more.
To streamline the number of platforms we have across media, we have moved the albums on SmugMug back to the BF Digital Portal. The BF SmugMug site is no longer available and the BF Digital Portal (hosted via a system called Canto) will be used to share photos and assets going forward.
The portal features include:
- A landing page with the ability to search by album, event, campaign or athlete.
- Filter by type of asset.
- View the library of albums available from within the portal.
Assets for Clubs:
- Clubs can download various assets in order to promote their club to different audiences, helping to expand their membership.
- There are also safeguarding posters for clubs to provide advice and contact information to their members.
- Throughout the year, clubs can access assets for different national campaigns, for example, World Fencing Day and Keep Your Child Safe in Sport Week.
Membership imagery – athletes, events and more:
- Event photos from major championships and events are uploaded to albums in the BF Digital Portal.
- Some photos (e.g. professional photos from major international championships) may have been taken by photographers other than BF. Please be sure to check and credit the correct photographer when sharing any photos.
- Users are asked to accept the terms and conditions when downloading imagery, including giving the author credit.
- Images from GBR Pathway camps, partners’ events, BF Championships and more, can all be found on the portal.
- Images on BF albums in the portal have been uploaded according to BF event photography guidelines, including consideration for permissions and safeguarding.
The Sword:
BF’s membership magazine The Sword is available to view and download on the digital portal.
External/Press Access:
- External users and press are invited to contact [email protected] for permission to use imagery on the portal.
- Images are available to download for BF members and clubs only.
- You can join BF for free for 90 days at bf.sport80.com.
Event Organiser Access:
We are currently trialing the process for event organisers to be able to upload their event photos to the BF Digital Portal. You can see an example of this in the Cocks Moors Woods Epee Championship 2025 album.
- Images will be hosted for a limited time.
- Images should be taken in line with the BF Photography Policy, including consideration of permissions and safeguarding.
- As with any event, participants will need to be notified that imagery is being taken. This information should explicitly include notice that images will be shared to the BF Digital Portal.
- One event organiser will be provided with an upload link, and is responsible for the image upload and any queries relating to the album.
- Guidelines will be given on how to upload images, including format, quality and checks.
- BF reserves the right to remove images on the portal.
Please contact us via [email protected] to discuss the process and guidelines for adding albums of an event.
