Henry Choong joins Francesca Summers at the Youth Olympic Games
British Fencing is pleased to announce that Henry Choong will compete in the Modern Pentathlon event at the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China, later this year. The Games begin on 16th August with the pentathlon fencing events starting on 22nd August.
Henry began fencing just five years ago under coach, Michal Janca and speaking about the discipline said; “For me, fencing is the most important discipline because lots of points ride on how good the fencing is and it’s the only part where you can directly take points off your competitors. To have a good competition I need a good fence!”
A spokesperson for British Fencing said; “Well done to Henry and his team on qualifying for the second Youth Olympic Games. We wish him all the best for the event.”
Recognizing his support team, Henry added; “I’d like to thank Burstow Park Riding club, Sevenoaks Swimming club, Bromley and Blackheath Harriers, Reigate Fencing club, Whitgift School, my family and friends and my coaches, especially Michal Janca and Laura Gomersall.”
