The EFC U14 Fencing Festival will be held in Istanbul, Turkey, from 28th to 29th June 2025. Information is provided about selection for this event.
When will selection for this event be made?
This is the first EFC U14 event that BF has selected fencers for. The final selection point is on Tuesday 13th May.
How will the selection be made?
Selection will follow the GBR Selection Policy. For specifics concerning the EFC U14 Festival, please see section 14.2 of the Selection Policy.
What happens next?
The selection point for this event is Tuesday 13th May. At this point, the U14 rankings data and selection data which will be used for this selection will be frozen and used for the selection. No other data beyond this event will be counted.
The selection will be made and published in the week following the selection point, and, as is standard for nominated competitions, will be posted on the BF website in the week following this. Selected young athletes will then be invited to accept their place and pay the associated fees, or decline their place, via Sport:80 following this. Athletes will have 96 hours to accept their place, after which, their place will be automatically declined.
What is the eligibility criteria?
Athletes must be born after 1st January 2011, and the standard GBR representation requirements (found here) must be met. Athletes must have a valid EFC licence for the 2024-25 season in order to compete in this competition. The organisers may impose additional restrictions on age groups and entry numbers.
What about accommodation, travel and transfers?
Parents are responsible for these arrangements per the standard U14 and U17 EFC circuit events. Information on official hotels and transfers can be found on the invitation from the organisers.
