FENCING HIGHLIGHTS: CIUDAD REAL, RATINGS

Fencing Highlights is a regular round-up of the latest stories and events from our community. In this snapshot, we take a look at the events that have recently happened or are taking place, including Ciudad Real U14 and a ratings reminder.

Ratings

Well done to the fencers who achieved new ratings from competitions over the past week! You can see your rating via the UK Ratings website here.

The BF Ratings Scheme is a great way to get a clear progression path to improve your fencing, and easily enter events that are suitable for your experience level.

Did you know that you can also do a head-to-head analysis of two fencers on the UK Ratings website? Check it out here.

There are only two days left to enter the 2026 GB Cup (26th April 2026, EIS Sheffield), which is open to fencers with D, E and U ratings. Entries close on Sunday 12th April, 5pm.

Ciudad Real Round-up

Well done to our U14 fencers who took part in the EFC competition in Ciudad Real, Spain!

Congratulations to Will Thomas, who won bronze in the individual sabre event! He said:

“I am really proud to get my first international medal and to be only one point off the final, beaten by the eventual winner. It was a great experience. I would like to thank my parents for taking me, and my coach, Chris Buxton, for his support.”
