The Royal Tunbridge Wells Fencing club are holding Free Fencing taster sessions on Thursday the 7th and Thursday the 21st August 2014. There will be a morning session from 10am – 11.30am and an afternoon session from 12 noon – 1.30pm on both days.         ALL AGES WELCOME.

Fencing is a Summer Olympic sport and comprises of individual and Team events. Epee fencing (which is the weapon we use in the sessions) is one of the five disciplines of modern pentathlon. It is a sport that not only trains physically but also mentally as it requires strong concentration and substantial body co-ordination. Likened to physical chess (speeded up a thousand times) fencing develops speed, reactions, body awareness, balance and one of the best forms of attack and defence. The sessions are run by ex-Olympian, British Champion and Commonwealth Gold medallist Prof. Steven Paul (and not least fencing body double to James Bond in “Die Anther Day”).

All equipment is provided and there are changing facilities, showers and toilets on site.

It is advisable to book early as places are limited to 18 per session.

Location: Territorial Army Centre, St John’s Road, Tunbridge Wells, Kent TN4 9UU.
Please note this is a securely gated venue and you will need a code to enter the premises which will be forwarded to you if you are attending one of the sessions. Parking is free (and secure!)

If you enjoy the taster session and would like to continue with fencing we will be starting new Beginner classes in September 2014. Classes will be on Mondays 5.30 – 6.30 (7-10yr), Thursdays 6.30 – 7.45 (Teens) and Sundays 10 – 11.30am (all ages). Cost of sessions is approximately £6.50.
