How to Enter

BF provides a clear process for fencers wishing to enter international competitions listed on the GBR calendars. All entries must follow the BF Selection Policies, and events may be subject to referee quotas set out by the organisers.

Entry Form

To request entry to an international competition, please complete the online form:

This form must be used for all international events listed on the GBR calendars.

BF Deadline

Entry requests must be submitted no later than 18 days before the event start date published on the calendars. Late requests may incur BF fines and, in some cases, EFC or FIE fines.

Referees

  • For U14, development or non-nominated international events, fencers may need to arrange their own referees.
  • BF may cap entries to avoid fines related to referee quotas.

Process Steps

  1. Complete the online entry request form.
  2. Allow up to three business days for BF to process the request.
  3. Eligible fencers will receive invitations from Sport:80.
  4. BF will complete eligible entries with the organisers.

Team Events

All team events fall under the BF Selection Policy. They cannot be entered by members, clubs, parents or coaches. Unauthorised entries may lead to significant fines.

Members must not contact the EFC or FIE directly or act on behalf of BF at any international competition.

Entry Limits by Event Type

  • FIE Satellites, EFC Eurofence League, U23 and U14 events: Unlimited entries
  • FIE Senior & Junior World Cups and Grand Prix: Maximum 12 entries per category
  • EFC U17 events: Maximum 20 entries per category
  • Development or non-nominated events: No BF-set entry limits (subject to age-appropriate participation)

U14 Events Only

  • BF does not select athletes for EFC U14 competitions (other than the EFC U14 Festival).
  • These competitions are open to fencers ranked within the top 50% of the BF U14 Ranking.
  • EFC U14 competitions award ranking points contributing to Festival selection.
  • Fencers outside the top 50% may still submit a request for consideration.

Withdrawals

All withdrawals from EFC or FIE competitions must be completed using the online form below:

Key Points

  • Once you have accepted a place, you must use the online withdrawal form. Do not email GBR Support.
  • The form covers both medical and non-medical withdrawals.
  • Medical withdrawals require supporting medical evidence.
  • A separate form is required for each event.
  • Please review the BF charges and fines before submitting: Click here to view fees and charges information.
