Fencing is a big hit at the Newsham Park Festival of Art & Sport

Last weekend, volunteers from Liverpool Fencing Club and Liverpool Junior Fencing Club put on a thrilling display in an effort to increase the awareness of fencing in the area, generate interest in taking up the sport and thus drive participation.

Not only did the club put on exciting exhibitions of fencing epee, foil and sabre but they also provided free taster sessions throughout the day.  Speaking at the event, the club’s President, Keith McCarthy, estimated that over two hundred and fifty people of all ages saying; “The weather was fantastic and we had people ranging from toddlers to adults having a go at our sport.  A substantial number asked about doing more which is great.  Our thanks go to the council for giving us this platform to promote the club and fencing and to all those that helped deliver a fun and successful event.”
