In a field of ten team, Great Britain beat France 30-13 and Hungary 30-28 in the first round, leaving them ranked second for the direct elimination stages. That earned them a bye through the round of 16 before they eased past Australia 30-12 and Germany 30-18. They faced Japan, the number one seeds, in the gold medal match and the British team led 15-13 at the half-way stage. Troiano, Bartlett and Causton dominated the final three legs to take the title 30-24.
