REFEREES REQUIRED FOR 2026 BYCS: 2nd-4th MAY, SHEFFIELD

Referees are invited to join the action at the 2026 British Youth Championships (BYCs), at the EIS in Sheffield on 2nd-4th May.

The 2026 BYCs are shaping up to be the biggest since Covid, and referees play a vital part in creating a positive experience for young fencers.

Date: 2nd – 4th May 2026

Location: EIS Sheffield, Coleridge Road, Sheffield, S9 5DA

Provided: Travel expenses, accommodation, food and a payment of £40 per diem (EFC and FIE referees will be paid £60).

Inspiring the next generation…

GBR Pathway athletes (18+) have already been invited (via email) to be involved in what promises to be a high‑energy, inspiring weekend for young fencers across the country. For athletes, you will be required to referee in your GBR tracksuits, and will be supported throughout the day.

Refereeing at the BYCs is a brilliant way to:

• Gain valuable officiating experience in a supportive environment
• Build confidence and decision‑making skills
• Experience a major national event from a different perspective
• See and learn from experienced referees in action
• Give back to the wider fencing community
• Inspire and role model to younger fencers
