SABRE COACH REQUIRED: LEON PAUL PROJECT

The Leon Paul Project (LPP) is seeking a full-time Sabre coach to join its existing High Performance coaching team.

From The Leon Paul Project:

  • Fulltime employed sabre coach with international pedigree.
  • Based at the Leon Paul Fencing Centre.
  • Working with fencers from U11 through to the top GB senior sabreurs.
  • Expected start date: August 29th 2023.


Based at the Leon Paul Fencing Centre in North West London, the Sabre coach will work with the existing coaching team to deliver a comprehensive training programme for national and international Sabreurs. The coach will also work with Leon Paul Academy youth fencers, and in the LPP’s school programme, helping young fencers to develop to a standard where they can join the LPP programme.

The LPP is dedicated to delivering longterm worldclass results, with daily training sessions, S&C, psychology and physiotherapy support. The Project was founded in 2021, and already has a large group of committed fencers competing at national and international level in their age groups.

The LPP is based at the worldclass facilities of the Leon Paul Centre, with 24 permanent training pistes, an onsite gym, physio clinic, and dedicated coaches’ offices, as well as the Leon Paul Pro shop.

The successful candidate will display:

  • excellent technical and tactical sabre coaching skills.
  • a strong track record of competitive success at international level.
  • the ability to inspire and develop young fencers.
  • outstanding work ethic and team ethic, and integrity of character.
  • good communication skills, with an excellent command of English.
  • an ambitious, creative, and adaptable approach to coaching.


The LPP also includes an integrated Parafencing programme, and therefore experience of wheelchair coaching is extremely desirable.
