USA Fencing has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to join BF’s SwordSeat Family and help provide the SwordSeat™ resources to their members.
The USA Fencing Federation signed the MoU at the end of November. This means that clubs in the USA will soon be able to access BF SwordSeat resources, replicated for them to fit the needs of the region by USA Fencing. USA Fencing will also be able to produce SwordSeats for sale at cost, to their clubs and members, while also ensuring continued safety management of the SwordSeat use in their regions.
USA Fencing is the second member of the SwordSeat Family, joining the French Fencing Federation (FFE) who were announced earlier this month.
Phil Andrews, CEO of USA Fencing, said of the MoU:
“We are thrilled to be partnering with one of the top Para Fencing organizations on the planet in bringing more options to grow Para Fencing. The SwordSeat, alongside the late Jed Jensen’s Jed Chair*, brings the opportunity to try this great sport to more potential Fencers across Great Britain and now across the United States; our thanks to British Fencing.”

*The Jed Chair is a USA alternative to fencing wheelchairs which clamps into the current style fencing frames (see more here). It works as a level up from the grassroots first touch opportunities that the SwordSeat offers for clubs who don’t have access to fencing frames.
