WHEELCHAIR FENCING FRAME LOAN SCHEME – APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN

Details about the wheelchair fencing frame loan scheme application process, open until 16th November 2023.

In response to requests in the Level Access Survey 2023 and a review of the current barriers to participation for wheelchair using fencers, BF is launching a wheelchair fencing frame loan scheme.

The frames will be available immediately following the 2024 Wheelchair Fencing World Cup taking place in Cardiff from 11th–14th January. We will have approximately nine frames which we intend to loan to clubs on a long-term basis to help those clubs support their local communities and build more national grassroots wheelchair fencing opportunities.

In return for the frame loan, which will be free, the clubs will be expected to agree to some basic terms of hire including:

  • Storing the equipment in a secure and dry area when not in use
  • Use the equipment regularly to support the growth of wheelchair fencing participation
  • Maintain the equipment in good repair
  • Very occasionally return the equipment to BF for use at an event

BF is keen that there is a good spread of improved seated fencing opportunities around the UK, so will be taking a clubs geographic location into account when deciding where to allocate the frames. If there are multiple clubs in an area interested in receiving a frame loan, we may request they share one frame between them as a co-operative group.

Please follow this link to apply for your club to be part of this loan scheme.

Applications will be open until 16th November 2023.
