BF RANKINGS RESTART – additional information for new ranking scheme for 2021

In preparation for the restart of competitive activity, BF announces further information about the percentage carry over and transition bonuses for 2021 season ranking lists.

Carry Over Points

To support our recent new post (click here) regarding carry points for 2021.

The new 2021 Cadet & Junior Ranking lists will be published by Monday 5th July 2021.

The percentage carry over for each age group will be calculated using the points as of 1st March 2020 when the seasons were cut short due to COVID as follows:

  • U17 (Cadets): 35%
  • U20 (Juniors): 30%
  • Seniors: 30%

In a similar method of managing carry over points in previous ranking schemes, these points will be deducted from the ranking schemes at set dates in the season. These dates will be published on the BF website in accordance with our policies. This process will be incremental so that that the reduction of the bonuses will have less impact on a fencer ranking at an integral part of the season.

Transition bonuses

U14 Transition Bonus (for fencers transitioning into the Cadet Ranking) and the Cadet Transition Bonus (for fencers transitioning into the Junior Ranking).

These bonuses are part of the new ranking scheme proposal. These will not be applied at the start of this season (2021/2022) but as part of the consultation process, we are making the community aware of our intention to do so for the following season (2022/2023).

As a reminder BF will be holding two consultation Community Events to share information and answer questions on the proposed 2021-2022 Ranking Schemes on the 14th and 15th June. Sign up for the events using the links below:

2021-2022 Ranking Scheme Community Event – Monday 14th June (6pm)

2021-2022 Ranking Scheme Community Event – Tuesday 15th June (6pm)

If you are unable to make the sessions but would like to ask a question, please use this form. (Please note there will be a separate link for those wishing to respond formally to the consultation). The session will be repeated on both nights, if you are interested in attending, you only need to attend one of the sessions.

An FAQs page will be made available after the second session, providing a recap of both sessions, and answering key arising questions.

If you have any questions around this post, please submit them to us via the form here and a member of the ADP team will come back to you.

Please note, the anticipated publication date of the restarted BF Ranking lists, proposed events, and restart of ranking competitions is subject to change, due to potential changes to the planned government roadmap, COVID restrictions and EFC/FIE announcements.
