BF BOARD LAUNCHES 2030 STRATEGY

Following community consultation, the BF Board launches its 2030 strategy.

The BF Board is delighted to present its 2030 Strategy as we work towards our vision of a strong, successful and socially impactful fencing community.

Our new strategy incorporates five main goals, and below that a number of sub-priorities shown in the full BF 2030 Strategy on the website here.

A PDF version of the BF 2030 Strategy is available to download here.

The Board would like to thank all the members that have contributed, through the online consultation and in person to Board Directors at events.

The Board is currently working with the executive team in fine tuning the targets, metrics and measures and more information will be presented to members in the autumn, as part of a series of regular member updates on progress.

Sara Pantuliano, BF Chair said, “This strategy marks a defining moment for British Fencing. It sets out a clear and ambitious vision for a sport that is inclusive, successful and sustainable – one that champions participation at every level and uses the power of fencing to drive positive social change. Whether on the Olympic and Paralympic stage or in local communities, we are committed to ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to belong, compete and thrive. I’m proud to support this strategy and look forward to working with our community to turn its ambition into action.”

Brian Brittain, Elected Director said, “British Fencing’s 2030 vision asks us to widen the door and sharpen our blades. We will Grow Participation by welcoming a new, diverse and engaged generation of fencers. At the same time, a world‑class performance pathway will turn that grassroots energy into Olympic and Paralympic podiums, delivering GBR Success. Participation and performance are engines that inspire and power a vibrant, sustainable future”

Yashmin Harun, Independent Director said, “At British Fencing, we believe fencing should be a sport where everyone belongs, regardless of gender, background, or ability. That’s why equity, diversity, and inclusion are not side projects, but core pillars of our strategy. From the success of programmes like Muslim Girls Fence to our commitment to growing opportunities for women and girls across every level of the sport, we’re not just changing perceptions, we’re changing lives. Fencing is becoming a force for positive social impact, and I’m proud to play a part in ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to pick up a sword, step onto the piste, and thrive.”
