As previously announced, the British Open Championships and British U14 Open Championships will take place 13-14 July 2024 at EIS Sheffield.
Entries to both events are now open and will close Friday 28th June 17:00 (BST).
British Senior Open Championships is an event for all Compete licensed members of British Fencing, including those not eligible to compete for GBR and international visitors.
The Senior Open will also include a plate event, for those eliminated from the competition after the poules.
The British Senior Open Championships is nominated for Senior, Junior and Cadet ranking points.
Wheelchair fencing events at this competition are open events (not restricted to only classified athletes). BF are aware that not everyone who wants to fence sitting down is currently classified or is interested or able to be classified under the Paralympic system.
If you have always been fascinated by wheelchair fencing, but you aren’t a wheelchair user day to day, these events are also for you. The format of the event will be adapted, with medals and trophies will be awarded for Category A, Category B and Open Category.

New for 2024, the British U14 Open Championships offers U14 fencers the opportunity to compete in the first U14 British Open event.*
This is an event for all U14 compete licensed members of British Fencing, including those not eligible to compete for GBR and international visitors.
A new BF U14 Ranking Scheme will shortly be released, with details of the 2024/25 season.
*Note: the British Youth Championships U14 event, taking place in May 2024, is not a fully open event as fencers are required to qualify through regions.
The British U14 Open Championships will be the first event of the 2024-25 Season.
Age groups and eligibility
Entrants to British U14 Open Championships must be aged 13 or under on the 1st January 2025 (those born in 2011 onwards), and aged at least 10 on the day of competition.
Those fencers who compete in U14 BYCs 2024, who are born in 2010 will receive their transition bonus into U17 (Cadet) Rankings post the BYCs as they move into the U17 age group for the 2024-25 season (further information in the BF Ranking Scheme – 4.2.3)
For those fencers born in 2011 and competing at the BYCs (May 2024) , this will be the first ranking event for them in the new BF U14 Ranking Scheme, with the U14 Open the second ranking event.
For fencers born in 2012, the British U14 Open Championships is their first opportunity to enter the BF U14 Rankings.
