Germany has joined the USA and France in the growing international SwordSeat Family, with certificates presented at the Senior European Fencing Championships.

BF has welcomed Germany as the latest federation to join the international SwordSeat Family, further strengthening the global movement to support inclusive and athlete-focused fencing environments.

The milestone was marked at the Senior European Fencing Championships, where BF President Pat Aiyenuro formally presented certificates to representatives from both Germany and France (France being the first addition to the SwordSeat Family network).

Germany’s inclusion reflects increasing international engagement with the programme, as federations look to strengthen accessibility within their pathways. By joining the SwordSeat family alongside France and the USA, the German federation aligns with a shared commitment to providing high-quality environments for all athletes, while contributing to the development of consistent approaches across borders.

DFB President Benjamin Denzer sees the cooperation as an important signal for the future development of the association:

“Fencing should be accessible to everyone – regardless of age or physical ability. With the Swordseat, we are translating this principle into a concrete offering that our clubs can implement. This cooperation demonstrates that international collaboration, innovation, and social responsibility can together create new opportunities for our sport.”
