CLUB DEVELOPMENT COMMUNITY DISCUSSION EVENT ROUND-UP

A summary of the two community discussion events hosted on Wednesday 25th March 2026 by BF’s Clubs Development Officer, Chris Bryden, including the slides presented during the sessions, and next steps for club support.

BF’s Clubs Development Officer Chris Bryden hosted two community discussion events for fencing clubs from across the home nations on March 25th, 2026. The events provided clubs with the opportunity to meet Chris, and outlined initial priorities and work areas that will be established to support fencing clubs moving forwards. For those who couldn’t attend the sessions, a summary and presentation slides are available below:

A total of eight clubs, located from the East, South-West and London regions attended the sessions and learned more about how BF intends to support clubs moving forwards in the next six months.

As a direct result of the events, a club visit has been arranged with Cambridge Swords Fencing Club for later in April and help will also be provided to Centurion Swords to support and offer guidance around fundraising ideas.

Chris Bryden, BF’s Club Development Officer said, “Thanks to all of the clubs that gave their valuable time to attend our Community Discussion Events. It has been great to set the scene for what club support will look like over the next six months and I’m looking forward to working on some of the initiatives discussed in the session.”

As shared in the sessions, initial focus for the Clubs Development Officer role will be:

  • Set up and establish a club survey to determine what support clubs would like to receive from BF
  • Full implementation of the GB League App
  • Establishing of a range of webinars, to be delivered during the Club Development week of BF Learning Month 2026 and made available to clubs long-term on video replay.

This post relates to the BF 2030 Strategy goal 2.4 to Create a Sustainable Future by empowering clubs for long term success. You can read more about this goal and the BF 2030 Strategy here.
