COVID Roadmap Community Discussions Begin

On Thursday 4th March, BF held its first in a series of discussions designed to support the community in following the government’s roadmap out of lockdown, for England. The sessions will look to bring together all community club COVID-19 Officers to highlight what it is community clubs and members can do as we reach each mapped out stage.

Thursday’s discussion saw a record 71 members join us on the virtual session. The discussion centred around what it is the new roadmap means for fencing and what the expected guidelines will be at each stage. All information related to the roadmap can be found on our page here (the page listed under COVID-19 on the main menu).

The Latest

Step 1: no earlier than 8th March

The published plan states:

  • Sports clubs/facilities stay closed to grassroots sport
  • Recreation or exercise outdoors with household or one other person. No household mixing indoors
  • Wraparound Childcare

More Information:

The first set of changes (8 March) is based on the return of schools and DFE have produced their guidance for out of school settings which will provide additional clarity for those operating in schools from the 8th. The DFE guidance takes precedence, the BF guidance (eg on fencing specific adaptations and kit hygiene) sits underneath that.

How to get involved

There will be a session roughly 10 days before each expected stage date (these may change depending on the government release plan). The next session that will focus on Stage 1b, expected on the 29th March, will be held on Thursday 25 March at 6pm. (For more information and to see other discussions we run click here.)

Registration information for all sessions will be sent via e-mail to all Club Admins and COVID-19 Officers as they appear on sport80. We ask that members liaise so that, if possible, only one representative attends per club (ideally the COVID-19 Officer) to aid with the flow of conversation. Club Admins, ensure your club’s profile is up to date by logging into the membership platform. To assign your COVID-19 Officer follow the instructions here.
